Resumes for Canada: what changes
Canadian resumes are generally clear and concise, without a photo or unnecessary personal details.
Never include a photo, date of birth, marital status or document number. It reads as unprofessional and can get you screened out for equal-opportunity reasons.
Keep the resume clear and concise. In general, aim for no more than two pages and prioritize recent experience that is relevant to the role.
Use Canadian/American English and strong action verbs. Quantify impact on every bullet. Add a technical skills section when relevant.
You do not need to include references or the phrase “References available upon request” on the resume. Prepare a separate list and provide it when an employer asks.
