How to write a cover letter that actually works
A good cover letter doesn't repeat your resume. It connects a real company problem to something specific you already solved.
Classic shape: paragraph 1 about the role (why this position, why this company), paragraph 2 on a specific achievement that answers the job's pain, paragraph 3 with next steps.
Skip the “My name is X and I have Y years of experience” opener. It's already on your resume. Open with the real reason you're interested — two lines is enough.
Personalize paragraph 2 using a project, number or situation that maps to what the posting describes. If they ask to “scale a team”, tell the time you scaled one. Anchor in fact, not adjective.
Jornatta's letter generator lets you pick a tone (formal, modern, direct, enthusiastic) and tailors each letter to a specific job in seconds.
