7 things you shouldn't put on your resume in 2026
A resume is about what makes it in, not what stays. Cut these 7 and it gets stronger immediately.
1) Generic objective (“seeking growth in a solid company”). Replace with target title + results summary.
2) Primary/secondary school (if you have a degree).
3) Sub-20-hour courses irrelevant to the role.
4) Unnecessary personal data: national ID, home address, marital status, kids.
5) Informal photos or selfies — if you use a photo, invest in a minimally professional session.
6) “References available upon request” — obvious, wastes space.
7) Cliché phrases: “proactive, dynamic, results-driven professional”. Everyone writes that. Prove it with a fact.
